Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Streusel 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup brown sugar 6 tablespoons butter 5 ounces chocolate chips -- coarsely chopped
Brownies 3/4 cup butter 9 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 5 large eggs 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla extract 1 1/2 tablespoons almond extract 1 1/2 cups flour 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt
Prepare streusel: Mix all ingredients except chocolate until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add chocolate chips, mix well. Set aside. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter and flour a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Over low heat, melt together butter and chocolate. Remove from heat and add sugars. Whisk in eggs, beating each one into the chocolate mixture. Add vanilla and almond extracts. Mix together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir flour mixture into chocolate mixture and blend well. Spread batter into baking pan. Add handfuls of streusel mixture on top. Bake brownies for 30-35 minutes until wood skewer inserted into middle of pan comes out with moist crumbs attached. Cook less for chewy brownies, more for cake brownies. Cool brownies for 30 minutes before cutting into serving sllces. Yield: "24 servings" |
