It seems I spend most of my
time taking care of old people in my family and my grandchildren. I squeeze
in a little time for work and travel! I will be leaving in a few days to
visit Edie Clark in Michigan. We try to get together at least once a year
after losing touch for over 30 years. |

In 1969 I went to work at the Chapel Hill
Police Department and am still there 37 years later. I got married in
1974 and have two beautiful daughters. My youngest came with me to the
Reunion. Since then she has moved to GA and my other daughter lives in FL.
(No grandkids). My husband and I also own a Garage and Towing Service in
Durham. |

One of the few to stay in Chapel Hill
after high school graduation to attend UNC. After graduating in 1967
in Business Administration, worked for IBM in Atlanta in their small
business group. Ran off to sea in 1970: worked
in the Caribbean and Mediterranean as a yacht cook for millionaires. I
fed the crew. Returned to US and lived for two years in Denver in an
ashram under the auspices of Guru Maharaji.
Returned to UNC in 1974 to audit accounting courses to
sit for the CPA exam which I finally passed after starting a software development
firm named SYSGEN. Became the agent of Coca-Cola USA to create,
install, and maintain a distribution system in 48 of their 150 bottlers
nationwide. We built a second generic accounting system and sold that
for awhile until I finally sold the company in 1987 and slowed down the
pace.
Married Chris two weeks after my 45th birthday.
He's an avid sailor so we spent the first ten years of our marriage
preparing to "sail away" which we did in June, 2003. Return annually
to Chapel Hill to test the home waters and continue to love the Triangle
area. Sailed Venezuela, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, San Andreas, and
Panama during
the winter of 2006-2007. |

6 kids, 3 grandkids. Retired last July
after 30 years in the Navy. Now I'm working more now than before I retired!
Is that the way it's supposed to work? |

Moved to
Chapel Hill 5 1/2 years ago. Still traveling a great deal with my work (The
Navigators Military Ministry)- no retiring for me! Of our 3 kids, one lives
here in CH (married, one grandchild), one in Wilmington, and one in NYC. We
enjoy being back in CH, it has always been home. |

I share my life between Colorado and
North Carolina. I have property on Bald Head Island and in Wilmington, NC
and full-time residence in Colorado (Boulder). I own self-storage businesses
and commercial real estate in Garner and Morehead City and some residential
rental properties in Wilmington and Raleigh. My three sons are grown and
settled, of course. The oldest is an architectural draftsman in Wilmington
with a beautiful 5 yr old daughter. The middle son has a masters degree in
marine biology and is a water quality specialist in Wilmington, unmarried.
The youngest is a masters level psychologist but is working as a
pharmaceutical salesman. He lives with his wife in Jacksonville,
Florida, and his first baby is due in March, 2007.
My recreational life is mostly about being outdoors given
the places I live. In Colorado, I golf, hike (both low and high
altitude...hiked a 14,000 ft. mountain two summers ago), snowski, snowshoe,
cross-country, and bike both on-road and off-road (moderate trails only.)
Life here is fabulous without humidity, and there are very few days when the
sun doesn't shine, and it is very easy to be healthy here. I am on the Board
of Directors of the Imagine! Foundation which is the fundraising arm for the
developmentally disabled communities of two counties here. The charity work
completes my life, as I have so much to be thankful for and so much to give
back.
Both of my parents are gone, but Chapel Hill is still
my home although I don't get there often anymore. I am a Tar Heel til death,
and I joined the UNC Club in Denver for special game days. I dated a
Carolina graduate who lives in Boulder for a few years...such fun! We spoke
the same Southernese and understood what really makes the world turn...TAR
HEELS!
Love to all...hope to attend the next reunion!
Great job for getting this website up and running! |

Transferred to UNC after studying at
Randolph-Macon for two years. Pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma with fellow
CHHSers, Nancy Aycock, Joan Archer, and Jackie Jennings. Graduated in
1968 with a Business Administration degree.
Moved to Atlanta to search for a real estate development career. Drove the
major of Atlanta around town during the International Convention of
Rotarians in 1969. Later HUD transferred me from Atlanta to Washington
DC via Greensboro. At HUD I worked with towns and states to coordinate the
development of multi-family housing. Boy, did I attend a lot of local
BBQs as I met my constituents between NC-GA.
Returned to Chapel Hill in the mid-80s and joined
Prudential Real Estate as a broker to learn that my true love was being an
independent agent. Worked extensively with the Kappa alumni including
Bernadine Sullivan to enhance the Kappa House in Chapel Hill.
During the 22 inch snow storm in 2000, I experienced a
life-threatening medical event which landed me in the assisted living
section of Carolina House near Glen Lenox in Chapel Hill.
That's what has happened to me! Call me at
919-932-2657 and let me know what you have been doing! |

It is with a heavy heart
that I have to tell you my dearest Deedee passed away May 4, 2008, after
battling Alzheimers for 10 years. She was 62 years old. Deedee and I met
at Wrightsville Beach in the summer of 1986, fell in love, and married in
November of 1986. We had 22 wonderful years of love, happiness, and being
‘real soul mates’ together! She really loved her years at Chapel Hill High
and living in Chapel Hill.
I am real sorry she did
not live long enough to attend your CHHS reunion, as she would have enjoyed
it very much. I wish you every success with the forthcoming reunion and
Deedee will certainly be there ‘in spirit,’ as she loved CHHS and her time
there very much. Kindest regards, her husband, Ed Bromeier |
