CALENDAR

Friday, November 13, 2009, at 7 PM

Our first regular game of the season against the College of Charleston starts at 7 PM at the Dean Smith Center.  Tickets and parking passes to this event are required.  Not only do the Heels welcome the largest freshman class in recent history, but they are designated to win the ACC title.

Friday, November 13, is Rams Club Day for Women's Basketball.  As Carolina plays the College of Charleston at 7 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center, Rams Club members can receive free tickets to the game.  Members can present their membership card at the athletic ticket office to receive up to four tickets.  The ticket office is located on the ground floor of the Ernie Williamson Athletic Center, directly below the Carolina Basketball Museum.

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Considering traveling to Las Vegas to cheer the Heels as they compete against UNLV on Sunday, November 22nd?  If you order Cox Pavilion tickets online, you will not be able to select your seats!  Call 866-388-3267 to secure seats with other Tar Heel Team Tempo members in section 118, immediately behind the Tar Heel bench.  Remember to avoid row AA --- you won't be able to see through our players on the bench.  Tickets are $1 (not a typo) plus handling.  Click here for an invitation to join other Tar Heel Team Tempo members at a function hosted by the Las Vegas Carolina Club!

Time Out Sports Bar in the Holiday Inn near Eastgate has confirmed our first Away Game Viewing Party at 4 PM on Sunday, November 22nd.  If you cannot travel with the Heels to Las Vegas, join us at 4 PM, one hour before game time at 5 PM, to secure a good seat and to order some food and drink before the game starts!  Dutch treat, of course.

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Fewer than ten people responded to our offer to charter a bus down and back to watch the South Carolina game in Myrtle Beach.  The next suggestion was a car pool to Myrtle Beach on the day of the game to watch UNC’s action against South Carolina.  Click here if your car has extra seats.  Click here if you would like to ride in one of those extra seats with a contribution to trip costs.  We will attempt to match available  seats with riders.

Tickets now on Sale!l

Have you ever considered creating your own “mini-season” ticket package?  Click here to select individual home games.  Click here to purchase season tickets to all home games. Click here to join the bus caravan to the NC State, or Duke away games.

NOTE:  Our Events Committee has re-scheduled pregame get-togethers at Time Out Sports Bar in the Holiday Inn near Eastgate beginning in January, 2010.

The Daily Tar Heel Reviews Last Week

Click here to read about the Tar Heel’s youth and speed in the first exhibition game against Francis Marion which the Heels won, 105-64.  Click here for an extensive review of the Carson-Newman win of 121-52 as our scoreboard above reflects!  Great quote from Coach Hatchel about sending two sets of referees.

Poster Day a real chance to meet the players!

Coach Hatchell extends her special "thank you" to all the volunteers that helped the players distribute posters and schedule cards last Friday.  Not only was it a great help to our program, but the players really enjoyed their time with the fans which included Ann and Billie Jones, Ed and Sue Weiss, Bill Poteat and Gail McKinley.

Preseason Ranking

The Associated Preseason Press Poll elected UNC Women’s Basketball team as the 5th best team in the country on October 30th.  On October 26th, the Blue Ribbon Panel of the ACC voted our team as their favorite to win the ACC.  By the way, Duke finished second, followed by Florida State and Virginia.  Click here to read more on predictions for the ACC Women’s Basketball season from the News and Observer!

Brad Heller Returns!

As we enjoyed two exhibition games, those of us who frequented Coach Hatchell’s Monday Night radio show last season were delighted to identify Brad Heller from Learfield Communications of the Tar Heel Sports Network and “Our Voice of the Tar Heels” at the scorer’s table.  Welcome back, Brad!  Come see Brad in action at Coach Hatchell’s radio show in January!

10 More Singers Needed!

Thanks to the five Tar Heel Team Tempo members who provided recommendations for singers which we forwarded on!  There are still 10 home games available! Do you know either an individual or a group who would like to sing our National Anthem prior to one of our home games?  This is an exciting opportunity for UNC Women’s Basketball fans who are vocally talented!  Click here to request more information.

Tar Heel Team Tempo buttons and business cards are here!

THTT Business Card.jpg

If you are a new member or have renewed you membership for this year, you will receive your button and a supply of business cards in a member packet mailing later this month.  But you don’t have to wait.  See a membership volunteer at the next home game, identify yourself as a THTT member and accept your button and some business cards.

Give these cards to your friends who are fans of UNC Women’s Basketball and ask them to join us in our efforts to better enjoy our home games and to increase home game attendance.  Forward this e-newsletter to them with an encouraging note.  Tell them about our ultimate objective to fill the arena for home games in support of our wonderful team.  And don’t forget to tell them that by joining Tar Heel Team Tempo, they will have access to fun events with other fans and with the UNC Women’s Basketball program.

Please don’t delay to renew your membership!  Thanks to the 70 members who replied to our email request to update their membership information.  For those of you who haven’t yet responded, we will try again soon!  When you reply to that email, you will automatically renew your membership in Tar Heel Team Tempo for this 2009/2010 season.

Also many of you receive this newsletter even though you haven’t yet joined Tar Heel Team Tempo.  At least you will receive it during 2009!  Click here to take 2-3 minutes to complete our membership application.  Members qualify for special benefits throughout the season.  If you are uncertain about whether you have already applied, please fill out the form again.

Treasurer’s Blog:  From Gary Triplett

Tar Heel Team Tempo’s Steering Committee has waived dues for the year 2009 in an effort to increase participation in our new organization.  We understand that many of you are waiting until we obtain tax-deductible status to financially assist our efforts.  The Finance Committee is working as hard as we can to make that happen, but even securing tax-deductible status for Tar Heel Team Tempo requires some funding … and some time!

In answer to your questions about how your donations are utilized, last week we paid $340 for the buttons and the $75 for the business cards.  We need your assistance for future projects this year and, if you are able to do so, please send your contribution to:

                        Tar Heel Team Tempo

                        11417 Pacesferry Drive

Raleigh, N.C. 27614

Finally, a special thanks to last week’s donors:  Jean Law, Diane McGrath, and Gary and Stella Triplett.
