TEAM TALK

UNC outlasts a persistent South Carolina 93-85

The Tar Heels may have started on a run but former ACC star and current USC Coach Dawn Staley has given her team the gift of persistence and intensity.  The Tar Heels played an excellent first 15 minutes and then saw an 18 point lead wilt into only a 5 point half time lead.  South Carolina continued their momentum in the second half, scaring the UNC fans with a 6 point SC lead before the Tar Heels showed some fight and provided an entertaining and exciting end to the game – Tar Heel style.

Read more from UNCAA here or the Gamecocks view here which also includes a video interview with Coach Staley and photos of the game.

Our hosts in Myrtle Beach were kind enough to provide to the internet free live stats for the game as well as a live video feed.  Click here for more happy viewing.

Be sure to tell your favorite media outlets that you appreciate the coverage!  This weeks recap was picked up in the Triangle by The News and Observer, click here, The Durham Herald Sun here, and MyNC.com here and across the state by papers such as the Ashville Citizen Times here and the Charlotte Observer here. Nationally it was picked up by ESPN here, Fox Sports here, CBS Sports here, Yahoo here and finally, in big city outlets such as by the Boston Globe here, Chicago's WGBtv here and the Seattle Times here.

From TheACC.com website

Once again Cetera DeGraffenreid has been chosen as ACC Player of the week!  Cetera also received this honor in November. Read more from TheACC.com here and from the UNCAA website here. Congratulations again Cetera!

From the UNCAA website

UNC WBB and Carolina All Access continue to entertain with singing and dancing in a holiday message from the team.  Click here to go to the UNCAA web site then look for the Carolina All Access video player on the right.  You can also still catch the 12/10 interview with Cetera DeGraffenreid.

Top 25 Polls

UNC continues to inch up in the national rankings to the #7 spot in both polls.  Other ACC teams in the top 25 include Duke (#8), Florida State who drops to #12/11 after a loss to unranked DePaul, Virginia who drops to #23/20 after a loss to now #9 Georgia, and Georgia Tech (#24/NR).  Maryland and Miami (FL) also received votes.  See the full listing here.

Good News:  Parking Available for Carmichael

UNCAA plans to provide, free of charge, a shuttle bus to transfer fans from the Bowles Parking Lot to Carmichael Auditorium for all home games.  In an effort to estimate fan usage of this wonderful benefit, this week Tar Heel Team Tempo will issue you an e-vite invitation to park at the Bowles Lot.  Please respond to let us know if you will regularly use this service.
