TONIGHT! Wednesday,
January 27, 2010, at 8:00 PM
Carolina Women's Basketball
Head Coach Sylvia Hatchell will host her weekly radio show at 8:00pm at
Tylers in Carrboro. While normally on Monday nights, the next few weeks
have a varied schedule due to game schedules.
Oops! The last radio show
incorrectly mentioned a Tuesday so help spread the word with the correct
night – Wednesday January 27. The Blast will keep you up to date each
week!

Heller from the “SpeakEasy” section of Tyler's which provides more room

The Tar Heels host Florida
State University. The Seminoles are are 18-3 overall and 4-1 in the ACC
on their way to the Triangle for the weekend. FSU will play at Duke on
Friday before taking on the Tar Heels on Monday night.
How about dinner before the
game? The Tar Heel Team Tempo Events committee invites all fans to meet
at 5:30pm at Time Out Sports Bar and Restaurant in the Holiday Inn for
dinner before the game. Plan for your pre-game meals at Time Out for the
rest of the season. Dutch treat as always.
Need to watch or listen from
home? The game will be televised on Regional Sports Network and Brad
Heller and Jan Boxill provide radio coverage on the Tar Heel Sports
Network. Radio coverage is on WCHL-AM 1360 in

Tar Heels win over Clemson, 79-61
The
Tar Heels outlasted the Tigers on Friday night with a 23-4 run at the

It was also shag dance night and indeed Coach Hatchell did come out
after the game for a little dancing with her husband Sammy. |

Tar Heels win first ACC road game at NC State, 81-69
UNC had its second comeback
win in row, this time in our rival's Reynolds Coliseum. Down by 9 in
the second half, Italee Lucas turned hot resulting in a career high 33
points, 28 of which came in the second half. Freshman Waltiea Rolle was
also a star with 12 point, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Read the UNCAA

New Traditions
The coaching staff requests
new game routines to energize both the team and the fans at home games.
·
You may have
already noticed the team all standing with right hand across the heart
during the National Anthem. This is in accordance with the US Flag Code
for a proper salute when not in military uniform. Please join the team
in this salute. Click

Please stand,
clap, and cheer for the player introductions and continue through the
first basket made by our team.
·
Please stand,
clap, and cheer at the beginning of the second half until the first
basket made by our team.
·
At the end of
the game, after the sing the Alma Mater, the players will run a victory
lap thanking the fans for their support. Kids (young and not so young)
are welcome to approach the rail to slap hands as they run past.

REMINDER: Parking information from the UNCAA
You are encouraged to take
advantage of the FREE SHUTTLE from Bowles Lot (which is free
parking) and Carmichael, as well as between the Ramshead parking lot
(PAID parking) and Carmichael.
Shuttle service will begin
approximately one hour before tip off --- except for the NC State and
Duke games, when it will begin 90 minutes before tip off.

Around the ACC
Excitement continues in the
ACC. Duke is the only team without a loss so far but they struggled to
hang onto a 1 point win over Maryland. Among other games this week, NC
State beats Wake Forest with a buzzer beater, Virginia handles Georgia
Tech and Virginia Tech beats Miami. Keep track of the ACC WBB standings

Top 25 Polls
UNC inches back up to #12 in
the AP poll and #13 in the ESPN/USA Today poll after wins over Maryland
and Clemson. Other ACC teams in the top 25 include Duke (#7), Florida
State (#13/14), Virginia (#21/20), and Georgia Tech (#25/NR). Miami
(Fl) is also receiving votes. See the full listing

Events Committee
The away game
at Miami is not televised, so our next planned viewing party will be
Monday, February 8th, at Time Out, for the Duke game. Try to arrive
between 6:30 and the 7 PM tip off for a good seat and to order your food
and drinks. Time Out is our permanent location now!
Tar Heel Team
Tempo members, friends, and guests are also enjoying pre-game meals at
Time Out before home games. Dutch treat as always. Meet at 5:30pm on
Monday February 1 before the Florida State game. Plan ahead: there will
be extra special activities including a “Dress in your best Beat Dook/I
Love Carolina outfit” contest before the Duke game on Sunday February 28th. |
