TEAM TALK

Tar Heels lose to Georgia Tech in back and forth battle, 64-57

The Tar Heels continued to struggle with rebounding and free throws in Atlanta, giving Georgia Tech a guaranteed day off at the beginning of the ACC tournament.  Read the UNCAA recap here and the News and Observer article here

The N&O also carried an update on Jessica Breland just before the Georgia Tech game. The ACCNow blog version is here and the N&O sports section version is here.

Tar Heels upend #6 Duke, 64-54

The Tar Heels fought hard for a win over Duke in Carmichael Arena on Sunday.  The game was extended with many foul shots and turnovers in addition to several official timeouts to review plays.  With Laura not playing, Martina struggling with a face mask over her broken nose, Cierra ejected for what the refs felt was a flagrant foul, and Chay and Waltia fouling out within a minute of each other, the guards stepped up to prevent Duke from sinking a field goal in the last 6 minutes.  The crowd also made a huge contribution!

Read the UNCAA recap and watch the post game press conference video here. Read Lauren Brownlow's “Fighting Back” article here.  The Daily Tar Heel articles are here and here.  The News and Observer has article in the ACCNow blog here and the sports section here.  ESPN picked up the recap here.

Italee and Cetera earn All-ACC honors

Italee Lucas was named to the All-ACC second team and Cetera DeGraffenreid was named to the All-ACC third team for the second year in a row.  See the complete lineup here or here.

New video at UNCAA

UNCAA and Carolina All Access present two new videos from the Senior Day.  One include the introductions, game highlights, dedication ceremony, and end of game comments.  The other is the history of Carmichael video that was shown on the big screen during halftime.  Click here to go to the UNCAA WBB site then look for the video player on the right hand side.

TEMPO TALK

From the Chairman

To my fellow Tar Heel Team Tempo friends,

I can think of no better ending to the ACC Regular-Season than beating Duke. Any win is wonderful, but I have enjoyed few as much as I did yesterday. Our team could have given up on this season many times, but they never quit. The win is a testament to them and our tremendous coaching staff. They remind me of how great it is to be a Tar Heel.

Now the team is off to the ACC Tournament. They are playing their first game on Thursday at 3pm against Maryland. I hope that you will all join me there to cheer them on victory.

See you in Greensboro,

Gary Triplett, President

Tar Heel Team Tempo, Inc.

Events Committee

Our Beat Duke Party at Time Out before the game Sunday was a great success. After an energizing lunch, we had four winners of party bags filled with UNC hats, necklaces, and doodads.

We will watch UNC defeat the Maryland Terrapins (A/K/A turtles) Thursday at 3 PM at Time Out. It will be a great time to perk yourself up with a mid-afternoon snack and enjoy the camaraderie of other Tar Heel Fans, united in our efforts to cheer our team on to the next round.

On Friday at 3 PM (after we win on Thursday) we will mix it up with Duke again, as we proceed through the tournament. Weren't they surprised on Sunday?

The energy that the fans generated in Carmichael Arena Sunday afternoon was spectacular ---- let's keep it up!

Next big event for your calendars: Tuesday, April 20th, End of the Year Potluck dinner at Coach Sylvia Hatchell's home.

Communications Communicates!
