Tar Heels upend #6 Duke, 64-54
The Tar Heels fought hard
for a win over Duke in Carmichael Arena on Sunday. The game was
extended with many foul shots and turnovers in addition to several
official timeouts to review plays. With Laura not playing, Martina
struggling with a face mask over her broken nose, Cierra ejected for
what the refs felt was a flagrant foul, and Chay and Waltia fouling out
within a minute of each other, the guards stepped up to prevent Duke
from sinking a field goal in the last 6 minutes. The crowd also made a
huge contribution!

TEMPO TALK |

From the Chairman
To my
fellow Tar Heel Team Tempo friends,
I can
think of no better ending to the ACC Regular-Season than beating Duke.
Any win is wonderful, but I have enjoyed few as much as I did yesterday.
Our team could have given up on this season many times, but they never
quit. The win is a testament to them and our tremendous coaching staff.
They remind me of how great it is to be a Tar Heel.
Now
the team is off to the ACC Tournament. They are playing their first game
on Thursday at 3pm against Maryland. I hope that you will all join me
there to cheer them on victory.
See
you in Greensboro,
Gary
Triplett, President
Tar
Heel Team Tempo, Inc. |

Events Committee
Our
Beat Duke Party at Time Out before the game Sunday was a great success.
After an energizing lunch, we had four winners of party bags filled with
UNC hats, necklaces, and doodads.

We will watch UNC defeat the Maryland Terrapins (A/K/A turtles) Thursday
at 3 PM at Time Out. It will be a great time to perk yourself up with a
mid-afternoon snack and enjoy the camaraderie of other Tar Heel Fans,
united in our efforts to cheer our team on to the next round.
On Friday at 3 PM (after we win on Thursday) we will mix it up with Duke
again, as we proceed through the tournament. Weren't they surprised on
Sunday?
The energy that the fans generated in Carmichael Arena Sunday afternoon
was spectacular ---- let's keep it up!
Next big event for your calendars: Tuesday, April 20th, End of the Year
Potluck dinner at Coach Sylvia Hatchell's home. |
