Monday, March 15, 2010 at 8:00PM on ESPN

NCAA Tournament Selection Show.  Watch to see if the Tar Heels make it to the Big Dance.  The show will be live on ESPN from 8-9pm to announce the brackets.  An additional hour of analysis will be carried on ESPNU from 9-10pm. The final bracket will be posted at the NCAA Championship web site here. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the list of automatic bids given to tournament winners here.

Technically on the bubble, the Tar Heels are still predicted to make it into the NCAA tournament according to Charlie Cream's Bracketology at ESPN.  View his latest predictions hereTech Tip:  Move your mouse cursor over each team (do not click, just hover) on the bracketology page and a description of why they are in that spot should pop up.

Also, just above the bracket, is a link to Charlie's latest column which describes some of the decision making process.  In his March 1 column he made the case for UNC making the tournament.  Read about it here. The March 8 update is here.

SCHEDULING NOTE: There is conflicting information concerning the time of this show.  As of this writing the ESPN schedule shows 8pm for the selection show, however, the original NCAA announcement here lists the show starting at 7pm. Please check you TV listings on Monday to ensure you do not miss the show!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 8:00 PM  at Tylers Tap Room – Unless the UNC Men are playing a game.

Carolina Women's Basketball Head Coach Sylvia Hatchell will host her final weekly radio show of the season at 8:00pm at Tylers in Carrboro.  Come out and listen to her words of wisdom concerning the NCAA tournament bracket.

For links to all archived shows, click here.  You can listen to the March 1st show directly here  and the March 8th show here.

The show is hosted by Brad Heller from the “SpeakEasy” section of Tyler's which provides more room than last year for the fans to sit, see, and hear.  The full menu is available so come for a whole evening of fun!  Click here for directions and menus.

SCHEDULING NOTE: If the UNC Men play on Tuesday evening then the final radio show will be postponed.  The announcement for NIT tournament will be on Sunday.  If the radio show is postponed there will be an announcement made at the UNCAA website here after a decision has been made for an alternate night.  Alternate dates also depend on the postseason schedule of the women which will be determined on Monday night.

Reviewing the ACC Tournament

The Tar Heels lost to Maryland, 83-77 in the first round of the ACC Tournament.  Read the UNCAA recap here and the ACC recap here. The News and Observer article is here along with photo galleries here and here. Lauren Brownlow's article “Putting it all Together” is here and the Daily Tar Heel article on the game is here and a new article on Jessica Breland is here.

New since the last Blast:  A second Daily Tar Heel article is here and the News and Observer had two additional articles, one before the game here and one about the game here which includes links to photo galleries.

In other games: Former Tar Heel Sylvia Crawley and her BC team did well knocking off #2 Florida State before falling short against NC State in the semifinals.  NC State, after winning three games in three days, played well enough to provide and interesting final game but that “other blue” team up the road comes out with their 6th ACC Tournament Title. Final score: NC State 60 – Duke 70.  Check out ESPN's Mechelle Voepel thoughts on “Underdogs come close in ACC, Big Ten, SEC” here.

For recaps of all games of the tournament, a list of the All Tournament Teams, and links to all press conferences, photo galleries, box scores, quotes, and more, view the ACC Women's Basketball Championship Central site here.
