Dear Dear Jackie
How can I ever than you enough for the $150 you gave me for my precious kids. It can at the most perfect time, just before school fees were due. I had no idea how I was going to pay them as I do not get much funds in. So I managed to pay 23 junior school fees and 3 senior school fees.
On top off all of that I managed to get 1,000 kgs (2,200 lbs) of mealie meal, a corn meal mush which is their stable food. That mealie meal will feed 78 of my kids for one month. I still have a small amount left which I will put towards next month's food. I truly can not thank you enough.
Mum said you were interested to know what it would cost to clothe, feed, and school a child per month. For one child about 10 years old, food, and school fees $24.60. I have not included clothes as they are so expensive here. I normally just pray that someone gives us their old ones. |

About three years ago our maid died and left behind two kids, a little girl of 4 and a boy of 12. They had nowhere to go and there is no space left in the orphanages. So we kept them. I just saw this big need so I went walking the streets talking to people. We ended up with about 7 kids who were desperate. That’s where it started. We now have 78 kids. Most of them live with their grannies who are so old and can barely look after themselves, let alone another 3 or so kids. One of our grandfathers looks after 9 kids all under 12 years. They all live in the bush where there is no electricity or water. For the kids who have no family left, we find old grannies who are willing to take them on as long as we pay for their food and things. Our youngest is 3 weeks and eldest is 18 years old. |

Sorry about the photos its all I have as our computer crashed. I will take some more resent ones this week and send them to you. You will see they are the most precious kids ever.
