A picture-perfect day
with lots of sun, good wind, easy seas. The delivery was absolutely
non-eventful, one of the highest praises for a sea voyage. We arrived
at sundown to attempt our first-ever Med-mooring, bow first into a very
tight slip. Chris thrusts the boat squarely into the berth despite a
heavy breeze across the bow as Jackie works with the marinaros to secure the
bow to the dock. No paserel required as we hop on and off SHIBUMI's
pulpit. We prepare the boat for haul-out to paint the bottom and
ourselves for our trip back to the states for the month of May. |

After a week of moving
SHIBUMI around the harbor to avoid swells during the multiple gales that
blew through the harbor, we departed Motril.. We needed to investigate
the condition of the keel below the water line to determine how our prior
anti-fouling paint job worked. During our stay in Rota, we had visited
the harbor master in Almerimar who assured us that he could handle the job,
so we left for our appointment with him during the last week of April. |
