When we reach the end of
the tuna nets east of Cabo ?? at 1700, we hoist all our sails and turn north
to Torreviega. It is a clear afternoon and the wind slips us along at
6 knots without the engine. Heaven. Of course, the wind dies out
before 1800 but we have the feeling again ... easy, quiet passages beckon
once more. We resolve again to deliver this boat to The Baleares and
start being cruisers again. But Torreviega exceeds our expectations
and we stop for a day. |

After sneaking behind a
major cliff for protection against the 35 knot winds and 8 foot seas, we are
pleasantly surprised when the wind dies and we have a peaceful night's
sleep. Both of us sleep soundly until 0800 when we realize that we
need to be out and off. The wind is still and the seas quiet. So
we make coffee, hoist the anchor, investigate the harbor of Aquilas to our
west, and motor east for Mar Menor. Of course the wind returns at 20
knots dead on the bow. |
