After a restful night at
anchor in front a beach house midway up the beach strand, we debate whether
or not to visit the port and try to access our emails, knowing that Jackie
is expecting several e-faxes. Overcast through the morning, but no
storms so we motor the boat closer to the harbor and dinghy ashore. Bad
move. We are caught inland when the storm hits. We cannot get
back to the harbor and SHIBUMI drags .25 mile through a row of other boats.
No damage to us or others thanks to the immediate efforts of others.
We learn the lesson: stay onboard in iffy weather. |

Up again early enough to
motor out of the bay by 0900. A fresh, bright day in the 70s and a
clear shot direct to Formentera, even though many freighters pass our path
in the first third of the crossing. At noon Chris successfully lands
his first fish of the cruise, a nice tuna which we will grill for dinner.
It is a quiet crossing with turtles bobbing up and down in the water ..
until we reach Formentera. Then Jackie's prayers for rain to wash the
salt off the boat were answered ...for the next three days! |
