A fruitful day. We
learn that all the wonderful calas in the pilot book are not necessarily
ones that we can use. SHIBUMI needs sufficient swing area even with our
wonderful 5/8 inch chain. The big surprise is the breath-taking cliffs
east of Puerto San Antonio. We thorough enjoy sailing the northern coast
of Ibiza and would highly recommend it in calm conditions. We discover
Puerto San Miguel which would suit us to anchor but stay overnight in the
next cala east, Cala Portinatx. Later we learn that our friends from
Samarang drug against the rocks here during "our" storm. |

Overwhelmed by the
near-disaster dragging through anchored boats, we move SHIBUMI north to a
less crowded anchorage and wait until our nerves settle. After a day at
anchor, we decide to see as much of Ibiza by boat as possible. We have
heard that Ibiza is the "party island" and feel no need to be
entertained. We arise, enjoy coffee, and leave in overcast conditions to
wander as far around the island as practical. We intend to research
potential anchorages before we need to "run" to them in inclement
weather.. |
