We arrive in early
evening and anchor on the east side of the outer harbor, heeding the advice
in the pilot book that the inner harbor is reserved for locals. The
next day swells from the SW sweep into the anchorage, and as we bounce
around, items in the saloon fall. So we motor into the inner harbor,
find a space in the entrance and re-anchor. Heaven. The best
anchorage and port that we have visited in Europe. And we discover
that the Germans, British, and French anchor first in the inner harbor and,
if it's full, in the outer anchorage. We return often. |

Up again early enough to
have coffee and weigh anchor by 0900. Chris dons his Club Med bathing
suit and we are off! The day is clear, the water smooth, and the
current in the channel between the islands substantial. We motor along
as we top up the refrigeration and charge the camera batteries. The
fishing line lounges in the water and we hope for more great tuna! But
we learn that fishing in the heat of the summer in the Med is no more
productive than in North Carolina. |
