Anchorages:

bulletAngra do Heroismo:  Anchor in front of Clube Nautico on western side of harbor in sand with good holding
bulletPraia da Victoria:  Anchor near northern side of breakwater

Marinas:

bulletAngra:  Under construction;  floating docks are functional but marina amenities are not;  excellent rates
bulletPraia da Victoria:  Marina seems to be finished

Check In/Out Procedures:

bulletAngra:  All facilities available at temporary office at commercial port

Cruiser Amenities:

bulletLaundry:  Angra Seco Lavandaria Talao, Rua do Rego (Alto das Covas), 33;  2.25/Euro per kilo,  phone 295-217-900;  avoid Lavandrias Crida in town center which charges 2.25/Euro for sheets and towels and then 2/Euro for each individual clothes item!!!!
bulletInternet:  free DSL connection at Centro Cultural e de Congressos, Rua Canada Nova;  ask for Fillip Alexandre's permission

bulletAngra:  Chinese restaurant overlooking port:  excellent
bulletBiscoitos:  Casa de Pasto Almeida, Caminho do Concelho, 143, phone 295-989-249;  excellent fare of great value for lunch while waiting to tour wine museum

Menu Items:

bulletGalao ("ga-lum"):  similar to a small latte
bulletSingapore Noodles, Peking Duck, Chicken Curry at only Chinese restaurant

Provisions:

bulletModelo;  take a taxi to and from for 3-4 euros/trip
bulletFresh market open downtown 7-4, Monday through Friday
bulletSmall local supermarket Rua Da Guarita

Recommendations:

bulletAngra Museum:  Professionally coordinated in 1500's convent which survived the 1980 earthquake
bulletWalking tour of the town
bulletTouradas a Corda (Bull run in streets of local town);  check with tourist info for current locations
bulletFurnas do Enxofre (holes in ground where sulphurous gases emerge)
bulletCaves:  Algar do Carvao (2.50 E); Gruta do Natal (2 E);  Furna D'Agua (1300-1600 only) 
bulletPraia da Victoria:  if not by boat, by car;  USAF base supports Modelo's American choice of foods
bulletWine museum at Biscuito;  eat lunch first for real treat at Casa de Pasto Almeida and let them order for you!

Good selection of taxis and rental cars
